SUMMARY:Make a Fairy House
DESCRIPTION:This is a fun activity for all ages. Bright colors and  a fun design will add a bit of whimsy to your garden for the summer!  They could also be used as a luminary. \nThis is a 2 day workshop\, The first day\, March 6\, we will make the fairy house. Depending on how much detail you add to your house it will likely take the full 2 hours. You will be shown how to make the base house – the detail you add is up to you. The base will be made using a cone mold. The detail you will add using the left over clay frm the 8 x 12 rectangle of clay provided. Fondant molds of flowers\, butterflies\, and leaves\, make the decorating easy. You will then come back a week later to paint it. It will likely take the full 2 hours to paint\, depending on how much detail you add. \nThe houses will then need to be fired\, and will be ready for pick up within 3 weeks. These houses will be fine to leave outside  during the summer\, but once the temperatures start freezing\, they need to come in.  \nI have yet to make an example\, but have included a picture of houses I found on the internet. I stupidly downloaded the picture without taking notes of who made it\, so I can not give credit. \nTo sign up for this workshop\, click here.

SUMMARY:Make a Spaghetti Bowl - March
DESCRIPTION:This is a beginner class – no experience needed!  All ages over 12 years welcome! (Younger children should be accompanied) Even if you are experienced\, though\, this will still be a great class! \nJoin us on March 7 and 14 from 3 – 5  pm to make a bowl\, decorated with leaves – or use a rolling pin for beautiful texture!  This bowl\, which is about 10 inches wide\, and is oven and dishwasher safe\, microwavable and food safe. It is deep\, making it a good spaghetti bowl. If you don’t want to use leaves\, given they are hard to come by in March\, you could use any of the 20 rolling pins of the studio to make a texture. Pictured below is the mushroom rolling pin.  \nDuring this 2 day workshop you will be led through the steps to make your very own bowl.  The first day\, which will take about 1 hour\,  we will make the bowl. The bowl is made from a slab of clay\, molded\, and then finished on the wheel. Once the bowl is made\, you can finish it any way you want. A number of different methods of decorating  will be covered\, including use of texture\, or using leaves.   The focus will be on using a rolling pin\,  as I have no access to leaves – but you are welcome to bring your own. The second scheduled day\, you will glaze the bowl. Two different methods of glazing will be covered – the first you wipe back the glaze\, highlighting the “fossil” left by the  leaf\, the second\, you can paint each individual leaf. Depending on which method you choose\, the second class could take an hour to 2 hours. Your plate will be ready for you to take home within 3 weeks of you finishing it.  \n \nThe workshop will take place March 7 and 14  from 3 – 5  pm.  \nTo sign up for this workshop\, click here.\nThe class is limited to 6 people.  \nPrevious student work: \n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\nI have been teaching pottery and ceramics in a variety of situations\, for all age groups\, for more than 40 years. SUMMARY:Drop In Sunday - Make a Glaze chip plate
DESCRIPTION:This project is more about how it will be glazed than how it will be made. This is the project for March 8 from 2 – 4 pm.  \nFor the last year\, Jamie has been collecting glaze from the spent gallon jugs of glaze. These  multicolored chips have been combined into a bowl to be used for various glazing projects – this being one.  \nThe tray that they will be used on is about 5 x 9. It would make a nice sandwich plate\, or to hold cheese. Once finished it will be dishwasher safe\, microwavable and oven proof.  \nYou will be provided with a slab of clay about 8 x 11. from that slab\, you will press it into a mold. You can add applique to the tray\, either a roping around the edge\, or any various ideas you have. The tray will then be fired. Return in 2 weeks to glaze the tray. You can use either a black or white background. On that background\, you will make a design onto which the colored sprinkles of glaze will be added. \nSunday drop in projects are meant to last a half hour to make. Attending a Sunday Drop In does not fulfil the prerequisites for attending open studio. Your project should be ready for pick up within 3 weeks of you glazing it.  Payment can be made through this website\, or in person with cash.  \nTo sign up for this workshop\, click here.\nPlease review my studio rules before committing to this workshop.

SUMMARY:Drop In Sunday - Make a Gnome Leprechaun
DESCRIPTION:  \n \nSunday\, March 15\, we will be making a Leprechaun Gnome Luminaire. The luminaires are made using the same process as that of the ghosts and trees. Use it to decorate your holiday table\, or add it as a focal point for a seasonal bouquet. \nYou will be provided with a slab of clay\, and a paper template. You can add texture using any one of the more than 20 rolling pins in the studio. You will then trace around the stencil on the clay\, and then fold the clay up to make the cone shape.  Cut out holes  and it can be used as a luminaire. Add a nose\, boots and beard\, and any other decoration you think appropriate.  \nFolding the clay up to make the cone shape is a little bit tricky\, so it may not be an appropriate activity for the very young\, but I will leave it to you to decide what your child can do or can’t do. (It is basically the same process that was used to make the ghost) \nThe cost is $15.  \nCome back in 2  weeks to glaze your gnome. Use our nearly full pallette of underglazes to paint your gnome\, and a clear glaze on top to make it shine. Or\, you can take the bisqued piece home and paint with your own acrylic paints. There is no good reliable gold glaze\, so the buckle on his hat\, and gold coins will be painted will gold acrylic paint).  \nYour gnome will be ready for pick up  within 3 weeks from glazing. This is the project for Sunday 3/15. The drop in workshop is offered from 2  – 4 pm.  It will probably take you about an hour to make the gnome. You can come any time between those hours – just plan on for  an hour to make the gnome. A different project will be offered every weekend. Once glazed and fired the pots will be dishwasher safe\, microwaveable and oven proof.  \nTo sign up ahead of time\, click here\nPlease familiarize yourself with studio rules\n

SUMMARY:Make a Tray
DESCRIPTION:Beautiful and functional…what could be better? Using a mold and a slab of clay\, you will make a tray that reflects your own creativity. This is a two day event. The first day we will make the tray\, and decorate with stamps to provide texture\, or you can use one of the many rolling pins I have with beautiful unique textures. You can add handles…or not. The second day\, the following week\, you will glaze your tray. Choose from hundreds of possible glaze combinations. The first day will likely take the full two hours as contemplating the many ways to decorate takes time. The second week\, when you will glaze your tray\, will take around an hour. The tray is dishwasher safe\, microwavable\, and ovenproof\, if protected from thermal shock. The tray is about 12 x 8 by about 1 inch deep. \nThe class will take place Friday\, March 20 and 27 from 3 – 5 pm.  \nThe finished tray will make a great charcuterie board – how fun that you can say to your guests that not only did you make the great display of food – but you also made the tray! \n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n\nPlease review my studio rules before committing to this class. \nTo reserve a seat for this workhop\, click here.\n  \n
