SUMMARY:Raku Friday - August 9
DESCRIPTION:This “workshop” is only for my regular students. In other words\, only folks who regularly come to open studios. On Friday evenings in August\, we will meet from 6 – 8 pm. If you would like to attend the September 9 workshop\, click here. Folks attending will get 2 pounds of raku clay from which they can make anything they want understanding that the kiln is very small so anything very tall or very wide will likely not fit. Because raku clay is low fire clay\, you will be limited to only working on your raku project during the alotted time. If you are looking for some inspiration of what to make\, the FB group\, raku days \, has some really good raku potters who regularly share their work. You also will see examples of how the glazes look – when the reduction process is successful. I am thinking that I wll limit class attendance to 6 folks – but if there is more interest than I anticipate\, that limit may have to be readjusted.  \nThe kiln is due to arrive mid-September\, so it would be great if we have an inventory of pots ready to go\, when it does arrive.  \nIf you are making something on the wheel\, plan on attending 3 workshops. If you are handbuilding something\, plan on attending 2 workshops. \nCome October \, I will open up the raku process to the general public. Click here for more information.

SUMMARY:Drop In Sunday - Pumpkin
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, August 18\, we will be making ceramic pumpkins. Use it to decorate your holiday table\, or add it as a focal point for a seasonal bouquet. \nYou will be provided with a slab of clay\, and a paper template. You can use any number of rolling pins and stamps I have to make a variety of textures on your pumpkin. You will then trace around the stencil on the clay\, and then fold the clay up to make the pumpkin shape. You can add leaves\, a stem and tendrils. \nFolding the clay up to make the pumpkin shape is a little bit tricky\, so it may not be an appropriate activity for the very young\, but I will leave it to you to decide what your child can do or can’t do.  \nThe cost is $15.  \nCome back two weeks later to glaze your pumpkin.  \nYour pumpkin will be ready for pick up  within 3 weeks from glazing. This is the project for Sunday 8/18. The drop in workshop is offered from 2  – 4 pm.  It will probably take you about half an hour to make the pumpkin. You can come any time between those hours – just plan on half an hour to make the pumpkin. A different project will be offered every weekend. Projects for the fall include  pine tree luminaires\, pine tree stands and other holiday oriented projects. Once glazed and fired the pots will be dishwasher safe\, microwaveable and oven proof.  \nIf you would like to pre-buy your seat\, click here.\nPlease familiarize yourself with studio rules\n
