SUMMARY:Drop In Sunday - Make an Owl Planter
DESCRIPTION:Join us Sunday\, June 2\, to make a small container with an owl on its front. use it as a planter\, to hold pencils\, paperclips of the proverbial belly button lint. You will make the container from a slab of clay wrapped around a can. A template will help you to form the owl face\, body\, wings\, feet and eyes.  \nCome back after two weeks and glaze it. You can choose between white or brown glaze\, or use an underglaze\, more or less a complete color palette\,  with a clear gloss coat to add color.  (Finished product pictures coming soon) \nYou can pick up your owl within 3 weeks from when you glaze it. \nThis is the project for Sunday6/2. The drop in workshop is offered from 2 – 4 pm.  It will probably take you about an hour to make the container. A different project will be offered each week. For a list of future projects\, check here. \nPayment may be made through this website or at the door with cash. Attending a drop in studio does not count towards the prerequisite requirements for attending open studio.  \nTo reserve your seat\, click here.\nPlease familiarize your self with my studio rules.

SUMMARY:Rhubarb Leaf Birdbath
DESCRIPTION:What could be more beautiful in your garden than a birdbath you created yourself! Using rhubarb (or you could choose burdock) leaves from my garden (you are welcome to bring your own\, but my kiln is only so big\, so the leaves can be no bigger than 15 inches in any direction) you will make a clay fossil of the leaf. We will then form the leaf around a mold in order to give it depth so it can hold water. Two weeks later \, June 17\, you will come back and glaze your leaf. Rhubarb and burdock have wonderful veining\, so will will talk about ways to highlight or accentuate the veins using glazes.  This workshop will take place June 3 and 17 from 6 – 8 pm.  \nTo reserve your seat\, click here\nPlease review my studio rules before committing to my classes.

SUMMARY:CANCELLED - Sunday Drop In - People Bells
DESCRIPTION:CANCELLED – Charming wind chimes for your garden! I am going to be unloading the kiln shortly where my models are – hopefully they turn out good enough. In the event they do not\, I have included some examples from the internet.  \n \nThis woman specializes in making single woman bells: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1133849909/woman-figure-ceramic-bell-with-flower \nDue to the nature of glazes\, only the bell part of the windchime will be glazed with a gloss glaze. Underglazes can be used on all the other body parts because the glaze will not melt onto the kiln shelf. In the picture enclosed\, the picture on the right shows the bells being glazed with underglaze. The color is permanent\, but not glossy. \nYou will  be provided with a slab of clay and a template to make one large wind chime\, or 3 small chimes. Decoration or details (hat\, flower\, shirt\, etc.)will be up to you.  \nThe windchimes should not be left out during the winter of freezing temperatures. It will be up to you to assempble the pieces.  \nThis is the Sunday Drop In project for Sunday\, June 9. Drop IN studio is from 2 – 4 pm. You can pay on line or at the door. \nClick here to purchase ahead of time

SUMMARY:Drop In Sunday - Ikebana Vase
DESCRIPTION:Ikebana is a Japanese style of flower arranging. We will make a flower vase that complements that style of flower arranging. You can do it in the manner of Georgetown pottery or you could make one more in the  style of this artist.     The ikebana vase is really good for flowers with a short lives – like iris or day lilies. You can highlight the beauty of the short lived flower without going through the hassle of making an involved bouquet\, only to have the flowers dead the next day. With the ikebana\, just stick your flower in\, and make it the focus of the arrangement. Flowers frogs will be available for free  those who make a vase in the style of Georgetown. If you do another style\, extruded tubes can be used for your flowers.  \nThis is the driop in project for June 30th from 2 – 4 pm. Come back 2 weeks later to glaze your vase. White\, green or blue glazes will be available\, or use the nearly full pallette of underglazes to add color to your vase.  \nTo pre-buy\, click here.
