SUMMARY:Drop In Sunday - Molded Bowl
DESCRIPTION:A fun project for all ages – an example of functional art. \nJoin us April 12\, from 2 – 4 pm to make this project. \nYou will be given a slab of clay\, about 8 x 11\, and then use a paper mold to shape the clay into a bowl. You can use any of the studio’s 20 or so rolling pins to add texture\, then decorate the outside using any of our silicon molds for flowers\, roping\, animals\, leaves or trees\, etc. Add some feet\, and you have yourself a fully functional bowl. \nCome back in two weeks and glaze it. We will be using the glaze pic \ntured. It is nearly clear where it breaks over the texture and white where it pools. It is a perfect glaze for highlghting texture. The final bowl will be dishwasher safe\, microwaveable\, and ovenproof when finished. \n \nYou can pick up your bowl within 2 weeks from when you glaze it. \nThis is the project for Sunday 4/12. The drop in workshop is offered from 2 – 4 pm.  It will probably take you about an hour to make the bowl. A different project will be offered each week.  \nPayment may be made through this website or at the door with cash. Attending a drop in studio does not count towards the prerequisite requirements for attending open studio.

SUMMARY:Make a Spaghetti Bowl - April
DESCRIPTION:This is a beginner class – no experience needed!  All ages over 12 years welcome! (Younger children should be accompanied) Even if you are experienced\, though\, this will still be a great class! \nJoin us on April 17 and 24 from 6 – 8  pm.  to make a bowl\, decorated with leaves – or use a rolling pin for beautiful texture!  This bowl\, which is about 10 inches wide\, and is oven and dishwasher safe\, microwavable and food safe. It is deep\, making it a good spaghetti bowl. If you don’t want to use leaves\, given they are hard to come by in April\, you could use any of the 20 rolling pins of the studio to make a texture. Pictured below is the mushroom rolling pin.  \nDuring this 2 day workshop you will be led through the steps to make your very own bowl.  The first day\, which will take about 1 hour\,  we will make the bowl. The bowl is made from a slab of clay\, molded\, and then finished on the wheel. Once the bowl is made\, you can finish it any way you want. A number of different methods of decorating  will be covered\, including use of texture\, or using leaves.   The focus will be on using a rolling pin\,  as I have no access to leaves – but you are welcome to bring your own. The second scheduled day\, you will glaze the bowl. Two different methods of glazing will be covered – the first you wipe back the glaze\, highlighting the “fossil” left by the  leaf\, the second\, you can paint each individual leaf. Depending on which method you choose\, the second class could take an hour to 2 hours. Your plate will be ready for you to take home within 3 weeks of you finishing it.  \n \nThe workshop will take place April 17 and 24 from 6 – 8  pm.  \nTo sign up for this workshop – click here.\nThe class is limited to 6 people.  \nPrevious student work: \n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\nI have been teaching pottery and ceramics in a variety of situations\, for all age groups\, for more than 40 years. SUMMARY:Drop IN Sunday - Make a Cone Shaped Vase
DESCRIPTION:As usual\, I am running behind and have not made an example of what this will look like. I have included some pictures\, one that I am in the process of making\, and one that I found on the internet. The one I made\, has yet to be fired\, so what you are seeing is the raw clay. \nA fun project for all ages – an example of functional art. \nJoin us April 19\, from 2 – 4 pm to make this project. \n \n \n  \n  \nYou will be given a slab of clay\, about 8 x 11\, and then use a styrofoam mold to shape the clay into a cone shape. You can use any of the studio’s 20 or so rolling pins to add texture\, then decorate the outside using any of our silicon molds for flowers\, roping\, animals\, leaves or trees\, etc. Remove from the mold\, and a base\,  and you have yourself a fully functional vase – once fired. \nCome back in two weeks and glaze it. you will have the choice of white\, clear\, brown or green glaze.  The final vase\, about 7 x 4 inches\, will be dishwasher safe\, microwaveable\, and ovenproof when finished. \nYou can pick up your vase within 2 weeks from when you glaze it.  \nThis is the project for Sunday 4/19. The drop in workshop is offered from 2 – 4 pm.  It will probably take you about an hour to make the vase\, longer if you add lots of detail. A different project will be offered each week.  \nPayment may be made through this website or at the door with cash. Attending a drop in studio does not count towards the prerequisite requirements for attending open studio. \nPlease review my studio rules before committing to this workshop.\nTo pay ahead for this workshop\, click here.
