SUMMARY:Make a Bowl with coils - drop in sunday
DESCRIPTION:Using prepared coils\, and a mold\, you will be led through the steps to make a coil bowl. The bowl will be big enough for ice cream or trinkets. Pictured are bowls made by other artists typical of what you could make. Coil pots are a great introduction to clay. Even the most novice will have success. \nSign up for the following week’s project\, and you can glaze your pot\, too\, or let one of our staff glaze the pot for you. You can pick up your pot 3 weeks from when you glaze it. \nThis is the project for Sunday 2/4. The drop in workshop is offered from 2 – 4 pm.  It will probably take you about half an hour to make one bowl. A different project will be offered each week. Once glazed and fired the pots will be dishwasher safe\, microwaveable and oven proof.  \nPayment may be made through this website or at the door with cash. \n.

SUMMARY:Sunday Drop In - Flowers - February 11
DESCRIPTION:This project is scheduled for Sunday\, February 11\, from 2 – 4pm. \nYou will be given a prepared slab of clay\, about 8.5 x 11\, from which you can make one giant flower\, or several smaller flowers. You can use one of the many cookie cutters I have to make the flowers\, or cut them from the clay based on your own design.  \nHow you use your flowers\, or finish them\, is up to you.  \nThe flowers pictured were made from two flowers joined together. I added beaded stamens\, and hung them from copper wire that was drilled into a piece of driftwood.  \nCome back in a week\, sometimes it takes me 2 weeks to get the pieces fired (you can drop me an email to make sure they are ready to be glazed)\, and glaze your flowers at no additional cost. The cost is $15 per person.  Click here to pay ahead of time. Cash or local check can be used at the door. Attending Drop In Sundays does not count to the prerequisite for open studio.   \nYou can leave your flowers in the garden during the summer\, but it is a good idea to bring them in during the winter or freezing temperatures.

SUMMARY:Sunday Drop In - Glass Filled Fish/Bird/Flower
DESCRIPTION:These sculptural pieces are meant to add visual interest to your garden. Made from a slab of clay\, you will be provided with a slab of clay about 8 x 8 inches\, you then outline your design with a coil of clay. Come back a week or two later\, and glaze it\, and I will add chips of glass before it goes into the kiln. The glass melts in the kiln\, adding a crackled look to the piece\, which catches the sun and sparkles. \nHow you finish your piece is up to you. I have mounted mine on pieces of driftwood\, or you can add a dowel and stick that into the ground. These pieces\, though meant for the garden\, should not be kept outside during the winter.  \nYou can pick up your sculpture 3 weeks from when you glaze it. \nThis is the project for Sunday 2/18. The drop in workshop is offered from 2 – 4 pm.  It will probably take you about half an hour to make one piece. A different project will be offered each week.  \nPayment may be made through this website or at the door with cash. Attending a drop in studio does not count towards the prerequisite requirements for attending open studio. Please familiarize yourself with the rules of my studio before committing to this workshop. \n \n.

SUMMARY:Make a Ceramic Box
DESCRIPTION:Looking for a quick creative project to celebrate President’s Day? Working with a slab of clay you will be led through the steps to make a beautiful and functional ceramic box. Use it for Q-tips in the bathroom\, specialty teas\, or to store that ever important navel lint or herbal stash. It will be dishwasher safe\, microwavable and oven proof once finished. You will have an open slate to decorate your box\, you can use one of a hundred different textures in the studio (rolling pins\, stamps\, and texture plates) or add clay applique. This is a great project for those who have never touched clay and for folks who have. I will provide a template\, but you can create your own shape with the clay provided. All ages welcome.  \nCome back in a week\, Sunday\, February 25 at noon to glaze your box. Choose from hundreds of possible glaze combinations. \nThis workshop takes place Monday\,  February 19 at 1 pm. It will likely take the full 2 hours depending on how much detail you add. Come back Sunday\, February 25 at noon to glaze. That should take about an hour.  \nPIctures of ceramic boxes taken from the internet to show the possibilities. Please review my studio rules before committing to this workshop. \nClick here to reserve your seat.
