SUMMARY:Make a Menorah - Tuesday
DESCRIPTION:We will be making a menorah.  This is a two day workshop\, though\, it may take more than 2 days\, depending on how much detail you want to add. You will be given a long cylinder of clay\, over a foot long\, on which you will build your menorah. You can create any theme you want. Since Hanukkah is early this year\, I went with a fall theme on the menorah I made. The first day we will make the menorah\, and you will add your detail. You can turn your cylinder into a box\, like I did\, or just leave it as a cylinder. You can add texture or a stamped design\, or flowers\, whatever you want\, and I will help in the technical aspect … I will be making more  \nover the coming weeks\, but I have one completed to stir your creativity. Also\, take a look at the link below for other ideas of ceramic menorahs made across the internet. The second day\, a week later\, we will glaze the menorah you made the previous week. This class is limited to 8 people. It will take place Tuesday  \nNovember 2 and 9 from 7 – 9 pm.  \nIf you need more time to complete your menorah\, we will find the time to complete at no extra charge. It is more important to have something that you will cherish for the rest of your life. \nMore examples to follow. \nHere are some examples from the internet: menorah  \nClick here for tickets – Menorah Tuesday

SUMMARY:Make a Soap Dish
DESCRIPTION:Make two soap dishes\, you will be led through the steps to make a soap dish which will resemble the one pictured that was made by a ceramic artist on line. (I will make something similar shortly) The soap dish that we will make together will keep the soap elevated so it does not become mushy. It will also be dishwasher safe. You will then have an opportunity to make a soap dish of your own design. I will give you technical help on how to achieve your design. I have created a page on pinterest of different soap designs to jog your creativity.  The class will be limited to 8 people.  \nSoap Dish by Sarah Beth Elkins\nThe first class will be Wednesday\, November 3 from 3 – 5 pm. During that class we will make the two soap dishes. The second class will be Wednesday\, November 10 from 3 – 5\, and will focus on cleaning up and glazing your soap dish. \nPictures forth coming.  \nTo register\, click here: soap dish\nHere are ideas from pinterest of soap dishes: pinterest

Join us on Thursday November 4 and 11 from 4 – 6 pm to make the mug shown\, or one very similar\, that reflects your very own creativity!  This mug\, which is about 5 inches tall\, and holds about 12 ounces\,  is oven and dishwasher safe\, microwavable and food safe. \nDuring this 2 day workshop you will be led through the steps to make your very own mug.  The first day\, which will take about 2 hours\, we will make the mug\, and cover different ways to decorate your mug. Once the cylinder is made\, which is made from a slab of clay and finished on the potters wheel\,  you can decorate it any way you want. A number of different methods of decorating your mug will be covered\, including use of texture\, use of underglazes and stencils\, and sgraffito\, a popular Italian method of decorating pottery. The second scheduled day\, we will finish the mug . Depending on how much is done the first class\, the second class could take an hour to 2 hours. Your mug will be ready for you to take home within 2 weeks of you finishing it. \nNo experience necessary! \nTo register\, click here : afterschool mug\nThe class is for 8 people. Grab a friend and make an afternoon of it. \nI have been teaching pottery and ceramics in a variety of situations\, for all age groups\, for more than 30 years. SUMMARY:Make Tree Luminaires - November
DESCRIPTION:Make 3 luminaires similar to the ones shown\, but reflecting your own creativity. Working with slabs of clay\, and molds\, you will form these cone shaped trees. The trees will not have bottoms\, so it is best to use a battery operated light\, or a votive with a plate underneath. This is a two day works shop. The first day we will make the trees\, the second day we will glaze. Two hours is allotted for each class\, but it will likely take a little over an hour. This workshop will take place November 13 and 20 from 10 until 12 noon\, though\, as mentioned\, the full time will likely not be needed.  All ages welcome\, no experience needed. \nTo reserve your seat\, click here – Luminaire November

SUMMARY:Make a Bowl - for teens
DESCRIPTION:A great introduction to working on the wheel for teens! Made from a slab of clay\, molded over a form\, and finished on the wheel\, you will be led through the steps to make a bowl. The bowl will be big enough for a small serving bowl\, or an extra large serving of ice cream for one. It will be microwavable\, dishwasher safe and oven proof- unless your design gets really wild. We will cover different ways of adding texture and decorating as well as making the foot which can either be low or tall like a pedestal as shown. No experience needed. \nThe class will meet November 15 and 22\, from 4 – 6 pm. The first class we will focus on making the bowl\, it will likely take the full two hours depending on how much detail you add. We will cover different methods of decorating the bowl\, and participants can choose the method they want. During the second class\, which will likely take an hour (though more time is provided)  we will glaze the bowl. Once glazed the bowls will need to be fired and will be available for pick up within two weeks. \nBuy Tickets Here : Bowl for teens
