Slow Sunday – Make a Vase

October 4 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
$15

Join us Sunday, October 4, to make a vase.

You will be supplied a clay tube, about 7 inches tall and 2 inches square, and an additional half pound of clay for the bottom and detail work.  Leaves will be available to roll into the clay, and then add to your vase. The real leaves will add beautiful visual interest, similar to a fossil. You can stop there or add even more detail to your vase. There are all kinds of molds for flowers, or create your own flower design. Or, go in a totally different direction a make a sculptural vase.  It is basically two hours to be creative.

The first class,  which could take anywhere from half an hour to the full two hours, depending on how much detail you add, you will make the vase, the second class, at least 2 weeks later, come back and glaze it.

Again, depending on the amount of detail, that could take a half hour to a full 2 hours to glaze.  A nearly full pallette if underglazes will be available, and white or green glaze for the body of the vase. Jamie will lead you through the steps to glaze your vase.

Vase left longer than a month will be deemed abandoned and desposed of. If time gets away from you, but you still want to finish your piece, please reach out to us and let us know. Once your vase has been glaze fired it should hold water – assuming no construction defects. Expect to be able to take your vase home 3 weeks after glazing it.

Please read the rules of the studio before committing to this workshop.
