Rhubarb Leaf Birdbath – July

This has been one of our most popular workshops. However, come July, rhubarb leaves may not be available, so burdock leaves will be used. If both are still around, you will have a choice between the two.
We will take a rhubarb leaf, or burdock (which has even better veining in the leaf, imo), and press clay onto the leaf creating an impression or fossil of the leaf. It is then draped over a mold, creating depth, so it can be used as a bowl or birdbath. Once finished the bowl is microwaveable, dishwasher safe or ovenproof, if protected from thermal shock. It can not be left outside once the weather starts freezing, as it will likely lead to the bowl cracking. Most of the bowls have been well over a foot in diameter.
The first day of the workshop, July 11, we will create the bowl. The second day, a week later, July 18, you will come back to glaze your bowl. This workshop takes place over 2 days, July 11 and 18, from 6-8 pm.
