Raku Friday – August 9
August 9 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
FreeThis “workshop” is only for my regular students. In other words, only folks who regularly come to open studios. On Friday evenings in August, we will meet from 6 – 8 pm. If you would like to attend the September 9 workshop, click here. Folks attending will get 2 pounds of raku clay from which they can make anything they want understanding that the kiln is very small so anything very tall or very wide will likely not fit. Because raku clay is low fire clay, you will be limited to only working on your raku project during the alotted time. If you are looking for some inspiration of what to make, the FB group, raku days , has some really good raku potters who regularly share their work. You also will see examples of how the glazes look – when the reduction process is successful. I am thinking that I wll limit class attendance to 6 folks – but if there is more interest than I anticipate, that limit may have to be readjusted.
The kiln is due to arrive mid-September, so it would be great if we have an inventory of pots ready to go, when it does arrive.
If you are making something on the wheel, plan on attending 3 workshops. If you are handbuilding something, plan on attending 2 workshops.
Come October , I will open up the raku process to the general public. Click here for more information.
